Starter unit for Table Tracker
The starting unit can be used to 'start' the table tracker and that action messages the main screen immediately. Often operators add a tracker unit number to the order being processed so that kitchen staff can easily see who 'owns' the order. The starter unit is used to enable the tracker so that it transmits and shows the device on the screen. The tracker is given to the customer who will then go and choose a table in the restaurant. When the customer sits down and places the tracker on the table, the screen will update with the customers exact table location.
The starter units are used where trackers are given to customers. Each till will need a starter unit if the till is to use the tracker system. If the starter unit is not used the system will add the tracker and table number automatically, but then you collect less data for later analysis so the starter units are really essential. Understanding how data is collected with a TT system can enhance what is actually collected, as is the case with these starter units.

And the data will reflect it directly. Once the Table Tracker unit is 'started' you are actually collecting data about how long the customer takes to choose table! And of course the system continues to proceed and collect data, for example if the customer has moved tables. In an estate of restaurants, in this way it is possible to actually determine the best and worst table in the whole estate! Clearly, if customers move from the selected table all the time, then there may well be some issue with that specific table, like cold coming in from doors, or maybe at a remote area of the restaurant or one of many other reasons. But management armed with the information from the Table Tracker data can take action to improve the problem. And that's just one example of hundreds of scenarios where data is far more use than some might think so do consider the starter unit as it enhances data far beyond other systems.
